Selling a car

Updated: Aug 17, 2019

If ever selling a car, here’s an idea of how to write a car description. This writing is coming from heart so it provides a really strong template. Also can’t ignore the importance of including good looking pictures, videos.

7/21 update.

Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, eBay.

All offer free local listings. If you don’t need to sell immediately and have decent pictures. Post & Wait.

At least that’s our plan. Will update.

8/11 update. Carmax offer for $6K - 1/2 target sales price. Craigslist = scam after scam. Never accept Paypal.

8/14 update. Offer from AutoTrader. Looks promising. Sold.

Strong example of the Folding Hard Top Convertible that was way before it's time and the jewel of the Lexus fleet in 2002.  Silky Smooth 4.3L V8 generates 300 hp, under 15 second 1/4 mile, under 6 seconds zero sixty.  All the horses you'll ever need with a tight 5 speed automatic transmission that offers a sport shifter.  But this is no racer, it's a quiet luxury cruiser.  Drive slowly and enjoy the relaxed sportiness and take the long way home on a top down cruising day.  It's a joy to drive.

The roof, both doors, hood and the truck all exhibit that signature Lexus solid THUNK. Bump the key and you are instantly greeted with the low bass V8 growl of the dual chrome pipes from the (VVT-i) Variable Valve Timing engine.  The hide away radio and nav screens always give me a 007 feel. Tap two wood covered panels to open and and the touch screen navi appears. This nav system is ahead of its time and far superior to our 06 Avalon.   It's just cool.

Very clean instrument cluster with a brushed nickel trim.  180mph Speedo in the center, Tach on the left and Temp on the right.

Multiple memory seats for both driver and passenger. Heated seats. Pop up cup holders. Mercedes just can't pull that kind of stuff off.

Vintage looking power antenna in the back.

Push button top is beautifully sealed from wind and water.

We had a it ceramic coated last Fall with CQuartz.  Maintaining the exterior is a breeze, wipe it off or rinse it off and she looks glossy wet.

I purchased her in 2012 as a 20th Anniversary wedding present for my wife.  She enjoys riding with me in it but declared it "too pretty to drive." lol

I added a temp spare in the trunk just in case.  Have never needed it (knock on wood).  I replaced the battery and one tire that found a nail.  Otherwise just routine oil changes.

This one ranks 4.9/5 on Edmunds.  She retailed for over $62K.  Features a rare pearlized logo trim package which is just another example of being before its time.

If you want an ultra reliable, understated buy sporty convertible cruiser, this one is worth a look.
