Our family decided to cut AT&T U-Verse (~$143/month) since they aren't covering NFL Redzone or ACC Network. I noticed a Reddit user mention they use PS Vue during NFL season for NFL Redzone then switch to Youtube TV. I think Youtube TV has a better reputation because of a more user friendly interface and slightly cheaper basic package, $50/month compared to $55 for Playstation Vue.
I haven't been as impressed with Youtube TV. It's difficult to fast forward/rewind through ads. Maneuvering channels also could be easier although I expect this to get better as Google collects more of my TV watching data.
Setup an Amazon Fire Stick this weekend and can pretty confidently say Apple TV is better. It was an older version, I was told it was a couple years old, Fire Stick so a lot of progress may have been made.
My family was interested in Hallmark and Weather Channel. Here is a promising service that offers those channels.
November 2019 update:
Playstation Vue is no longer an option as Sony is ending the platform January 2020. AT&T Watch is now available and included in our cell phone family plan. AT&T Watch has Hallmark, HGTV, and HBO and allows you to choose a premium content channel every year: HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime.
Which leaves us with looking for a platform consisting of NFL Redzone and ACC Network. (can steam NFL Redzone on Reddit for free)
No platform has ACCN and Redzone. It looks like the cheapest option for ACCN is Sling.
January 2020 update:
We are on Youtube TV. It allows simultaneous streams (something Sling Orange does not) and has ACCN for $49.99 a month. YTTV narrowly beats out Sling Orange + Blue plus Sports Extra.
I miss Playstation Vue multicast.
June 2020 update:
Covid has ended all live sports. They are scheduled to pickup late July. Youtube TV raised prices to $65.
Hulu TV looks like the best option at $55/month. NFL Redzone has a yearly plan of $35.
