I hate selling a stock.
And this is one I'll have to live with selling to see it double shortly after.
August 10th, 2016 I sold all my shares of WWE at the price of $20.50.
Today WWE trades at over $50. I bought WWE in 2006 and doubled my money over the 10 year period, a rate of return I was not satisfied with. I bought this as a kid, wasn't a huge fan, but I knew there was a market for it and thought it would stick. However, I became impatient with WWE after it failed to stay with the S&P500 for years I declared WWE a loser and invested elsewhere. Market timing is cruel, but I don't regret my decision to sell.
I do wonder if WWE was undervalued all these years because of the market it is built for. WWE can be classified as witless, fake entertainment and one I grew to disrespect as I aged.
Going forward, rather than discounting underwhelming or unflattering businesses I should consider them as an investment. These can be businesses with wide moats and that don't attract competition.
