Is Business School worth it? GRE/GMAT Prep

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Moment of gratitude - another weekend where I have no obligations and slept well on my own terms. Total control of a schedule is often under-appreciated.

Pretty amazing how many jobs are available at Duke University.

This video by Khe was solid and hits the nail on the head on if an MBA is worth it.

- if you're looking for a reset, there's cheaper options

- if you're looking for a network, the elite MBA programs are priceless

- what you learn, there's cheaper options

- the experience of learning, networking, and partying with other mid 20-30 year olds worth $100K+ depends on personal taste. For some, it is the time of their life.

- accelerate career, depends on situation. If you need a MBA to get a next level job, then it makes sense.

Accelerate a career in non-conventional ways. That stem from adding value to other people's life.

- side hustle

- volunteer

- go out, party, network like a MBA student

- recreation sports

- blog, write, and connect on Twitter

Live an interesting life and you will attract interesting people. Live. Fail. Learn.

There's a wide collection of apps to prep for GRE/GMAT. The amount of cheap/free resources is amazing.

My thought after going through this topic and writing this blog, is to passively study: take a lifelong learner approach and take these exams when I'm very comfortable and confident. Aim for a GRE/GMAT score that fits with the top MBA programs. Passively explore and schedule visits with some of the top MBA programs to see if one stands out. Two things I'm looking for are compatible teachers that inspire me and current or recent students opinions/stories/learnings.

<<<< current Libby listen.

"We who lived in the concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms--to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
